ASP.NET Provider Client Application (Management Application)

Purpose

To ease the management and insertion of data into the various provider tables that are provisioned out when using the SQL membership, role, and profile providers. Since SharePoint is built off the same provider model as ASP.NET 2.0, the application will work for managing pluggable SQL users that you may be using within your SharePoint environment. This was built for fun more than anything else.

Application Overview

Creating code that accesses the ASP.NET provider database can be a very lucrative option for both extending the database to serve your own custom needs as well as creating intuitive tools that allow you quick and extendable management options for a variety of purposes. For example, it is often advantageous to bypass the ASP.NET Website Administration Tool (WAT) and managing the database through properties windows for both bulk record management and mass record insertion. Through the WAT, this can prove to be rather arduous, and for those not wanting to type several INSERT and GO statements in a SQL query window, there are a few other options. The ASP.NET Provider Manager provides methods by which a user can manage the various providers tables through a simple client application. The business logic layer partial classes are included in the above downloads to allow a user to use the same type of database functionality in other applications as they see fit. All of the the ASP.NET provider tables can be managed from the ASP.NET provider client application.
